These teaching units were created by the Education Department of the Zoological Society of Florida at Zoo Miami. These are thematic, interdisciplinary teaching units for classroom use, reinforcing concepts such as interdependence, adaptations, and conservation, with an innovative and exciting approach. The teaching units are activity based and are aligned with Florida’s state standards for the grade levels indicated. We encourage you to bring your students to Zoo Miami for an exciting and wonderful learning experience your students will enjoy.

Students are introduced to the interdependence and intricate web of energy and life.
Students create their own animals while learning how adaptations help animals survive and thrive in their habitats.
